Bilingsgate is a ward in the City of London (London, England), located on the bank of the Thames between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. It was originally the City's water gate. In 1699, Billingsgate Fish Market was established at Billingsgate Wharf. By the 19th century, Billingsgate was the largest fish market in the world. It was redesigned several times before being moved to a building complex on the Isle of Dogs in Poplar in 1982.
