Botany Bay

Type: Place | Vetted

Botany Bay is an oceanic embayment located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. James Cook landed at Botany Bay on 29 April 1770, and his landing instigated Britain’s interest in colonizing Australia. The Bay was also a destination for Britain’s penal colony on the continent.
