Browndown Training Camp was where British soldiers in the First World War trained for combat. Located on the coast and just south of Gosport, England, the camp provided practice trenches for soldiers to utilize and practice combat strategy. “Trenches became increasingly prominent in late 19th and early 20th … when mobile warfare ground to a halt, and fixed frontlines were formed” (Historic England). Soldiers would practice fighting enemy troops and form strategies about how to move through the trenches.
