Commercial Road is a street in the East End of London that serves as a connection bewteen London's historic district and the newly developed financial district at Canary Wharf. The road is just short of 2 miles long and was orignally constructed to serve as a direct link between the West India Docks and the East India Docks. This road is also known to be the busiest road in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets as it is the only main route between the city and the commercial east end. In Monica Ali's Brick Lane, Commercial Road is briefly mentioned as Nazneen walks down the road and makes note of a clothes wholesale store that is home to the road.
