Cordoba, also known as Cordova, is located in Andalusia. Originally a Roman settlement, then colonised by Muslim armies in the eighth century, the city became a center of culture and learning in the Muslim golden age. It was recaptured by Christian forces in 1236 and today is a World Heritage Site.
