Empire Stadium, the original Wembley Stadium, was a football stadium in Wembley Park, London. It was first opened in 1923 and was built by Sir Robert McAlpine for the British Empire Exhibition in 1924. It became famous for hosting the Football Association Cup, the League Cup, the Challenge Cup, and the 1948 Summer Olympics. It also hosted concerts, including the 1985 Live Aid Concert.
