Eton Colleges is one of the most prestigious schools in the world; with a tuition of over 63,000 euros per academic year, their acceptance rate is low. This elite school is located in Windsor, England, and meant for young adult boys ages 13-18. Because of their high price tag, low acceptance rates/affordability, and number of resources and opportunities, those who attend Eton College become this “other” because of the disproportionality in wealth and social class. Eton is the alma mater of Prime Ministers David Cameron and Boris Johnson, novelist George Orwell, and actor Tom Hiddleston. The elitism established through boarding schools creates an “other” between those who can afford to attend, and those who cannot. (Similar to the “othering” of Hailsham students in Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro.)
