Description:
Silhouette of Fanny Price of Mansfield Park, Created by Adam Sherif, 2025.
Crafting of Silhouette of Fanny Price, FILL IN, 2025. My silhouette is of Fanny Price and is mounted on a blue background. I started with a sharpie black background that I ultimately wasn’t happy with. I covered that layer with a light blue piece of paper and then reintegrated the black by using a small square of construction paper on top of the first layer. From there, I found a silhouette of Fanny Price on the Internet that I heavily based my final portrait on. Using the same blue construction paper, I traced an outline that I carefully cut out.
Fanny Price has always been a strong, moral character despite her more silent nature which is represented by her silhouette. When she silently disapproves of Mary Crawford' jokes about her uncle's profession, or avoids acting in the Lover's Vows play she showcases this. Her stoic, silent and put-together nature was something I attempted to showcase in the silhouette.
My silhouette was heavily inspired by an online version I found as shown in the fourth photo. In researching Fanny's character I watched each of the films, the 1999 version I found best represented Fanny's values, internal and external, as shown in the novel.
