First meeting of the Democratic Federation

On 7 June 1881, the first meeting of the Democratic Federation occurred. The Democratic Federation became the Social Democratic Federation in January 1884. The Federation inaugurated a newspaper, Justice at that time; its first editor, C. L. Fitzgerald, was soon succeeded by Henry M. Hyndman.
