On 28 April 1923, the Football Association Cup Final occurred between West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers. This was the first public event ever held in the Empire Stadium, at Wembley. The stadium, completed in April 1923, was the physical and conceptual focal point of the British Empire Exhibition.
