This is a picture of the second edition of Christina Rossetti's Goblin Market. The illustrations on the front pages are examples of Pre-Raphaelite art. This type of art aspiried to return to the life-like emphasis and religous values pre-Raphael (Late Medieval and Early Renaissance arts). The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was short-lived, and at one point highly criticized due to their young ages, but still had a great effect on British art and design.
The Pre-Raphaelite values can be seen in the illustrations of the girls and the goblins. Despite the goblins being fantastical and fictional creatures, they appear very realistic in this illustration. The illustration also does a great job at capturing the 'fairytale' tone and feel to the narrative poem.
