Hatton Garden is a street and commercial district in the borough of Camden in London. The area is named for Sir Christopher Hatton, a wealthy man who lived in a mansion there and was favored by Queen Elizabeth I. The area has also been home to some of London's most notorious robberies, including a jewel heist in the 1990's that remains London's biggest gem heist. The area is known to be the "center of Britain's jewelry trade," and attracts many high-end shops and wealthy shoppers for that reason. In The History of Mary Prince, Mary goes to Hatton Garden to see the Moravian Missionaries when she decides to leave the Woods' house.
