As many of us understand, music has an immense impact on our lives from our alarm clocks in the morning, to the connections we have to others with the same taste, to the movies we watch, to walking down the aisle to the person we spend our lives with and having that be “your song” forever. The Romantic Era was a breakthrough period for many composers and musical performers during this period. The image that I selected was by Henryk Siemiradzki and was named Chopin Concert. The artist was born in the middle of the Romantic Period and would surround himself with nobility and the elite in the community and that is part of the image that we see here. Music during the era became an even more social entertainment method. We can see in the image many have gathered around in close more fancy than standard and are enjoying the music being played. Beethoven was popular during the early part of the Romantic era, and many such as Franz Liszt, Hector Berlioz, or Giuseppe Verdi follow his lead. People were gathering in larger crowds and the art of Ballet became much more popular being led by one of the founders of a more modern ballet style named Marie Talioni. A lot of music before this era tended to be primarily poems set to a rhythm in order to enhance the music. This time period changed that so now people were creating music to express emotions and create art, not always to necessarily tell a story.
