J.K. Rowling: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Type: Gallery Image | Not Vetted

The first novel in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This book was published by Bloomsbury on June 27th, 1997. This is the most important in the series because it sets up the scene of the characters along with the plot of the story. It begins with the titular character, Harry Potter, learning on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphan of two powerful wizards after recieving a letter-like invitation by owl. The death surrounding his parents is quite a mystery which unfolds throughout the book. He learns that unknowingly, he too possessed the powers and abilities that his parents had, making him a wizard as well. He is then rescued from the horrid house of his aunt and uncle who are quite unwelcoming to him, making him feel unwanted by situating him underneath the stairs. He is brought to Hogwarts School of Witchery and Wizardry to become a student since this school is an English boarding school specifically for wizards. He soon meets friends who become close to him, Ron and Hermione, he considers them more than allies as they help him discover the truth about his parents mysterious deaths. Basically, all that he does at this school is things that he has never done before nor has he encountered anything like this before (“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone | Harry Potter Wiki | Fandom”). I believe that this novel displays to the readers that the series is going to be complex yet it will captivate their attention because that is defintely what it did for me!
