The film is based on love story of Jodhaa Akbar. It's a historcal movie which include: Romantic and Dramatic comedy.

She was a Hindu princess but married a Muslim king, Akbar. Their marriage was an example of religious tolerance. However, the marriage between the two of them was more of a political alliance. She was also known as the first and the last love of the Mughal emperor, Akbar. At first she didn't agree to marry Akbar. But Jodhaa demands a meeting with Akbar and demands to keep her Hindu religion after marriage, and that a temple be built for her to continue her faith with the intention of having the emperor call off the wedding. Akbar agrees to all her demands. Because Akbar wanted to expand his kingdom, for this, he pursued a direct fight, adopting a marriage relation, accepting subjection, and having a position of authority in government and friendship.

Maham Anga was Akbar's nanny and prior to his enthronement at age of thirteen was the Mughal emperor. Her own son Adham Khan, who was Akbar's foster brother, was almost regarded as one of the imperial family. Maham Anga, and her son took the power of guardian, the tricked Bairam Khan (Akbar’s tutor). They told Akbar to send his guardian to Mecca. Months later, Bairam was murdered by an Afghan, and much of the former's power was passed on to Maham Anga.

Adham khan murders Atgah Khan (Akbar’s prime minister) to prevent his war crimes from being exposed. Then Akbar announces to his soldiers to throw Adham down from the palace roof, and Akbar didn’t know that he was watched by Jodhaa. In this scene, Jadhaa can see Akbar’s violence and his passion for justice. When Adham Khan dies. Maham Anga decides to take revenge on Jodhaa, and she decides to destroy Akbar’s Marriage. One day she went into Jodhaa’s room, and she found a letter that Jodhaa had written to his cousin Sujamal before her marriage but didn’t send it. Maham Anga to take revenge sent the latter to Sujamal and ask for a private meeting. When Sujamal comes to meet Jodhaa in private, she insinuates to Akbar that Jodhaa went to meet her lover. Akbar sends his men to arrest Sujamal, and Akbar gives the order to send Jodhaa back to Amer. Jodhaa doesn't give an explanation, indignant at her character being questioned. Later Akbar finds out the truth and goes to her maternal home, apologizes to her, and asks her to come back, but she refuses. Instead, Jodhaa tells him to investigate the working of his relations and empire.

After Akbar returns to his palace and changes himself into a citizen to find out the problems of his citizens. When he realizes that his Mughal citizens are not happy because of the tax they must pay for things they buy and sell. He announced that every religion has its rights in his empire. This impresses Jodhaa, who comes back to him.

During a celebration, an assassin sent by Sharifuddin Hussain shoots a poisoned arrow at Akbar. Jodhaa helps nurse Akbar back to health and the pair genuinely fall deeply in love. Akbar declare Jodha another name "Malika -e- Hindustan".  After this attack Sujamal, Sharifuddin Hussain, and his allies march to attack Amer. After Sujamal overhears Sharifuddin plotting a silent attack on the emperor, he quickly leaves to warn Akbar of this conspiracy. Sharifuddin's army chases Sujamal off, who is received by Bhagwant Das in Akbar's camp. Before dying, he manages to warn the emperor of the attack, who then recognizes Sujamal and realizes what the past misunderstanding concerning the letter was.

                                                                                                                                 The fight between Akbar and Sharifuddin Hussain for the territory. And Akbar make it clear to all his ministers and to all his subjects that Rani Jodha is a Hindu Rajput, and she is his Begum, and is also the empress of Hindustan. Akbar defeats Sharifuddin in hand-to-hand combat, and then spares his life for the sake of his half-sister Bakshi Banu Begum, but not before stripping him of his title of Victory of Ajmer and Nagaur. Eventually, Akbar proclaims that Hindustan "India" will be a peaceful and prosperous land if people respect and honor each other's religions.
