Lake Geneva/Chamonix Valley in Switzerland/France is significant to the story of Frankenstein as it is the location where Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's book Frankenstein was written as well as is the overall setting location within the story. I found this information from a niche history blog covering the story of Frankenstein and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. This source is an example of consumer vs. participatory culture because the author took the text and explained the significance of the in text locations as well as basically the significance of the actual location where the story takes place and where it was written for other fans. Mapping this location on COVE adds a grassroots layer to a story usually told top-down because the website is made by an enthusiast of the story who explains the specific location significance as well as gives a map for other fans to go and observe the story locations for themselves.
