This location is the next place where important events take place, historical and plot-based. Candide has reunited with his dear professor and they end up in Portugal due to a ship wreck. Historically, the Spanish Inquistion is in progress. Pangloss, as a philospher, blasphemes by disregarding the idea of Original Sin. As a consequence Pangloss is hung and Candide is whipped. This incident shows the brutality of the movement. After this, he reunites with Cunegonde, who was thought dead. Is all for the best?
