This work-in-progress map helps identify and visualize women artists across geographic and temporal boundaries. Each pin, which is color-coded (see the above colour key for chronological organization), corresponds to the artist's birth location (not necessarily work location). The pin includes the woman artist’s name, including spelling variations or her new name after taking religious orders, when known. The pin also identifies her birth location and date, as well as her death location and date, when known. The artist's specialization (e.g., painter, miniaturist, wax sculptor, etc.) follows.
