The Great Fire was one of the most devastating tragedies for London. Due to such a traumatic event, it makes people more skeptical about where they are in a certain time, or what can be seen as a risk for starting a fire, in this case. Landmarks were destroyed, churches burned down and few survived, homelessness was rampant, and the economy was suffering because of such a catastrophic event. Despite such a tragedy, London managed to continue rebuilding itself. For example, while many churches were not rebuilt, new ones were in the works. Overall, the fire taught London how to re-evaluate how they constructed their towns, roads, and architecture. This may be why the Great Fire remained in the Londoners consciousness, as the event was not something they wanted to repeat, and the people started to learn about how they can best avoid such situations.
