Jane's next location is Lowood school. She comes here to start her life and get away from her aunt and cousins. She soon found happiness in the form of a friend, Helen, but it was short lived nad her misery had taken over again. Her friend died and she said the following:
"From the day she left I was no longer the same; with her was gone every settled feeling, every association that had made Lowood in some degree a home to me" (Bronte)
She continued to excel in her studies at Lowood and becomes a teacher there. She leaves a few years later for a governess job in Thronfield.
"The school is based upon Cowan Bridge School in Lancashire which Charlotte and her sisters attended as pupils." (Reader's Guide to Jane Eyre)
