The Mall is a road in the City of Westminster, running from Trafalgar Square, through the Admiralty Arch, to Buckingham Palace.
In Virginia Woolf's "Mrs. Dalloway in Bond Street" (1923), Mrs. Dalloway walks up the Mall: "The air stirred with energy. Messages were passing from the Fleet to the Admiralty. Piccadilly and Arlington Street and the Mall seemed to chafe the very air in the Park and lift its leaves hotly, brilliantly, upon waves of that divine vitality which Clarissa loved." Mrs. D walks from the Mall through Green Park, which is bordered on the north side by Piccadilly, so this helps pinpoint her exact location as she walks to Bond Street.
