Mannheim Germany is significant to the Frankenstein Novel because this is where in chapter 18 Victor took a stop in Mannheim for a day when he was traveling along the Rhine River. Germany is a big part of the setting because it helps bring the dark and eerie part of the story. Mannheim is only a brief stop in the story rather than a very big part of it. I found this information from the NYU Manifold  <phttps://nyu.manifoldapp.org>. This source is an example of consumer vs. participatory culture because anyone can go on here and react with the information I found meaning it has participatory culture. This source was made by students at NYU and it allowed many different students to build on it. This adds a grassroots layer to the story because it is just a small detail that adds a lot to a story.
