Description:
The monster cereals were a line of cereal prdocuts created by General Mills in March of 1971. These cereals were inspired by the classic gothic monsters such as Dracula and Frankenstein. Today, these cereals only make an appearance during halloween to celebrate their spooky nature. The characters of these cereals are parody version of their classic monsters. In commercials, these characters are depicted to be scared of almost everything, including children, birds, ghosts, and each other. General Mills produced many adverstisements and promotional additions to this line of cereals. One promotion they did was a song and music video called "The Monsters Go Disco" featuring Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry. The animated music video includes classic gothic tropes like stormy, dark nights and a labrythine castle. General Mills continues to create new content surrounding the characters of the monster cereal line. These cereals were loved by many, specifically due to their homage to the classic gothic literary characters.
