Jacques Louis-David

This painting by Jacques Louis David, depicts Napoleon at his Coronation. This ceremony was significant for the rebuilding of Notre Dame. After the war, the cathedral had been practically demolished, Victor Hugo’s novel as well as Napoleon's Coronation called for the famous monument to be rebuilt.
