This is the original art that was on the cover of the 1st edition of Dungeons and Dragons with the box set. The art depicted is very representative of what the game was at the time; a harkening to simpler times, with forces of good and evil working against each other. Adventures in Dungeons and Dragons at the time were, many times, fighting beasts and monsters of all different shapes and sizes with magic of different moral standings.
