Paisley is a town in the west of the Lowlands area of Scotland. It is home to the twelfth-century Paisley Abbey. In the nineteenth century, it became a center of the weaving industry and remains known for the Paisley pattern. Striking Paisley weavers played a key role in the Radical War, or “Scottish Insurrection,” of 1820.
