Bibliography - Park City, Utah, is an important location in the film industry because it has hosted the Sundance Film Festival, where independent filmmakers have had the opportunity to share their work and gain recognition. In 2009, Cary Joji Fukunaga won the U.S. Dramatic Directing Award for his film Sin Nombre, while Adriano Goldman received the Excellence in Cinematography award for his camera work on the same film. I found this information on the official Sundance institute website, which lists the winners of the 2009 festival. This is an example of participatory culture because the festival gave independence filmmakers a chance to contribute their work, share their stories and receive recognition from the film community. Sundance helps filmmakers who might not have the same opportunities as major Hollywood directors.
