Pearl came out in 2022 and is a horror film that follows the young Pearl through her pursuit of her dreams despite her terrible relationship with her mother. Pearl's connection to her own morality is slowly lost over the time of her isolation from the outside world. The limits of the human mind are tested when Pearl goes from killing small animals to killing other human beings. Excess can be seen in the setting, as she lives on a farm with livestock always around. This creates an unsettling atmosphere given that she is thirsty for blood. The effects on the families of those who fought in World War I are even explored, as Pearl's husband is fighting in the war and Pearl has to deal with the emotional impact.
