Plymouth Rock is the location that the slave escapes to in EBB's famous anti-slavery poem, "The Runaway Slave at Pilgrim Point". It is clear that the symbolism of this location as a place of freedom and new life for the persecuted pilgrims who landed there was key in choosing it, as it did not make much sense geographically for a slave from the Carribean to go there.
