The image attached to this is Susan Glaspell's summer home in Provincetown, Massachusetts, a small town which came into existence on June 14, 1727. However, this town harbored ships far earlier than that. Also, a critical location for theatrical genius and extraordinary novelist Susan Glaspell’s. Early in Glaspell’s career, she co-founded a theatrical group called the Provincetown Players. This group was dedicated to producing and showing new and exciting plays. Nonetheless, providing Glaspell with her very own plays to showcase her intricate plays. One of the most famous being “Trifles”, a theatrical drama recreating a murder story in which she covered earlier in her career. To this date, “Trifles” is one of the most frequently shown plays and has impacted many throughout the world. Not only does Provincetown behold the start of her theatrical career, but it is also home to Glaspell’s and her husband’s (George Cram Cook’s) summer home. Located in Cape Cod, it had one-of-a-kind scenery that may have contributed to Glaspell’s marvelous literary works.
Today, Provincetown is a popular tourist destination due to is beautiful beaches, unique shops, and its rich history. Provincetown is seen as a hotspot for art galleries due to its lavish literary and artistic history in which Glaspell contributed to. Many artists still reside there today in order “spark” their creative mindset. Currently, there are over 3,000 works and 700 artists that call Provincetown home.
