Rydal Mount

Rydal Mount, where Wordsworth lived from 1813 until his death in 1850.  From here he launched his 1844 protests against the proposed railway expansion from Kendal to Ambleside.  A slightly shortened line, from Kendal to Windermere, opened in 1847.
