Now labled as a socialist Orwell published his first book with these socialist views in his book The Road to Wingan Pier (1937). The novel ends in harsh and sharp critisism in the socialist movement. While this novel was being publish Orwell resided in Spain to report on the Civil War and ended up participating in the war. Unfortunalty, he was severly injured in his throat which affected his speech permanently. His experience in spain left him with a hatred in Communism which inspired his next book Homage to Catalonia (1938).
