St. Columb Minor is a small village on the coast near Porth, which was the site for ship building during the 1800s. St. Columb Minor is also known for its gothic style churches from the 15th century. This is most likely where Frank is from in the novel, since it is located in Cornwall and closer to the coast than St. Columb Major.
“No one knows what the sea is like, till they have been to Cornwall. And St. Colomb—I wish you could see St. Colomb! Why, the whole place is smaller than Baker Street.” (Chapter XII). It is unclear here whether Frank is referring to St. Columb Major or Minor, but he nontheless wishes to show the Lorimer sisters.
