Contextually in Romance of a Shop,  St. George's Church is mentioned when Connie and Gertrude are discussing Connie’s habits of going out to dances and parties. Gertrude remarks that going out does not go well for her. On the other hand, Connie replies and says, " “Indeed it does [go well]. Often in St. George's, Hanover Square” (mentioned in Chapter 16). She is implying that dancing sometimes leads to marriage.

St. George’s Church in Hanover Square is a historically Anglican church in the city of Westminster in Central London. It was constructed between 1721-1725. The land for the church was donated by General Sir William Steuart.
