St. James' Palace is no longer home to the monarch, but does usually house several of the minor royals and is used as a ceremonial meeting place. Mrs. Dalloway, in Virginia Woolf's "Mrs. Dalloway in Bond Street" (1923), passes by it in her walk through Westminster: There was St James palace; like a child's game with bricks."
