Ravenna TheodoricMausoleum 0039

Theodoric the Great (454 CE - 30 August 526 CE) ruled the Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy from 493 (17 years after the fall of Rome) until his death in 526. Along with several other cities in northern Italy, like Verona, Milan, and Como, he focused on restoring and renovating the architecture of Ravenna, the capital of his kingdom. In 520, he foresaw the construction of the Mausoleum of Theodoric as his future tomb.
