While looking for data and answers to the question that lead us to start this project, we realized that the first thing you can see by comparing any official speech to any on The Crown, you'll see that they had to be cropped. Because of a time factor, and because the official speeches had to be long enough to get people's attention, the show only selected a little part. But the question is "which part?" because we all know that words matter, especially in such a context. Deciding whether to keep or delete a specific sentence can change the meaning of a full discourse, for this reason we believe that nothing is left to chance.

What are the main and most recurring themes in the official speeches? And what, instead, is highlighted in The Crown's ones?

Happy Christmas.

Twenty-five years ago my grandfather broadcast the first of these Christmas messages. Today is another landmark because television has made it possible for many of you to see me in your homes on Christmas Day. My own family often gather round to watch television as they are this moment, and that is how I imagine you now.

I very much hope that this new medium will make my Christmas message more personal and direct.

It is inevitable that I should seem a rather remote figure to many of you. A successor to the Kings and Queens of history; someone whose face may be familiar in newspapers and films but who never really touches your personal lives. But now at least for a few minutes I welcome you to the peace of my own home.

That it is possible for some of you...

My Lord Mayor, the anniversary of any occasion is a time to reflect. But in light of the events of the last 12 months, perhaps I have more to reflect on than most. 1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. It has turned out to be an Annus Horribilis.

No institution is beyond reproach, and no member of it either. The high standards we in the monarchy are held to by the public must be the same benchmark to which we hold ourselves personally. If we can't admit the errors of our past, what hope for reconciliation can there be?

Today, I'd like to pay tribute, if I may, to my family. Throughout the four decades I have been on the throne they have quite literally been my sun and water. For all the sacrifices they have made, indeed, to all of you here whose prayers and well-wishes have been a source of strength to me these last forty years...

There are homes ready to welcome us in every continent of the earth. Before I am much elder, I hope I shall come to know many of them. Although there is none of my father’s subjects, from the eldest to the youngest, whom I do not wish to greet, I am thinking especially today of all the young men and women who were born about the same time as myself and have grown up like me in the terrible and glorious years of the Second World War. Will you, the youth of the British family of nations, let me speak on my birthday as your representative?

Now that we are coming to manhood and womanhood, it is surely a great joy to us all to think that we shall be able to take some of the burden off the shoulders of our elders, who have fought and worked and suffered to protect our childhood.

To that generation, I say we must not be daunted by the anxiety and hardships the war...

We examined some of the most important speeches of "The Crown" and researched which storylines were mostly real, and which ones leaned more toward fiction.

“The Crown”, a flagship TV series produced by Netflix, tells the vicissitudes of the English Royal Family from the abdication of Edward VIII to 1997.

Practically perfect in every way, this series became popular not only for its settings and costumes, but also for the quality of the historical reconstruction of those years and the complexity of their characters, which are interpreted by a phenomenal cast, that reveals the most vulnerable side of each one of the House of Windsors.

In particular, the figure of Elizabeth II is masterfully interpreted by Claire Foy, Olivia Coleman and Imelda Staunton, who, together with the screenwriters, have been able to masterfully combine reality and dramatization, thus making a figure apparently so distant as that of the Queen close to us, capable of humanly shaping the history of the twentieth century.

On my twenty-first birthday I welcome the opportunity to speak to all the peoples of the British Commonwealth and Empire, wherever they live, whatever race they come from, and whatever language they speak.

Let me begin by saying 'thank you' to all the thousands of kind people who have sent me messages of good will. This is a happy day for me; but it is also one that brings serious thoughts, thoughts of life looming ahead with all its challenges and with all its opportunity.

At such a time it is a great help to know that there are multitudes of friends all round the world who are thinking of me and who wish me well. I am grateful and I am deeply moved.

As I speak to you today from Cape Town I am six thousand miles from the country where I was born. But I am certainly not six thousand miles from home. Everywhere I...

My Lord Mayor,

Could I say, first, how delighted I am that the Lady Mayoress is here today.

This great hall has provided me with some of the most memorable events of my life. The hospitality of the City of London is famous around the world, but nowhere is it more appreciated than among the members of my family. I am deeply grateful that you, my Lord Mayor, and the Corporation, have seen fit to mark the fortieth anniversary of my Accession with this splendid lunch, and by giving me a picture which I will greatly cherish.

Thank you also for inviting representatives of so many organisations with which I and my family have special connections, in some cases stretching back over several generations. To use an expression more common north of the Border, this is a real 'gathering of the clans'.

Drugs that are illegal under international drug control treaties are known as illicit drugs.

Opioids, cocaine, cannabis, and amphetamines are the four main categories of illicit drugs that are often the subject of international statistics. However, a variety of other illegal substances, such as plant-based drugs and synthetic hallucinogens, are covered by international drug control treaties. The "Terminology and Information on Drugs" publication from the UNODC includes a thorough list of illicit drugs.

Illegal substance abuse or dependence can have negative effects on one's physical and mental health as well as, in many situations, other people's wellbeing. Illicit substances differ in their effects on health and wellbeing; some have far less of a negative effect than others.

People can die directly or indirectly from drug use

Hello! My name is Elvina and I am an ethnic Azeri born in Russia and have lived here all my life. My parents immigrated to Russia about 35 years ago during the Soviet era. I was born and lived for 17 years in Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. Therefore, I believe that my home is exactly Naberezhnye Chelny. However, this is not the end of my feeling of being at home and where I am from. At the age of 17, I moved alone to St. Petersburg to study at the Pushkin Leningrad State University as a teacher of English and German languages! :)  I have been living here for 4 years now and I can say that St. Petersburg is a wonderful city that you fall in love with at first sight! If you once visited St. Petersburg, you will remember it forever. I love this city a lot, so often when i am being asked "where are you from" I name Saint-P. And then I always add "but generally I come from Tatarstan". Do I feel my connection with Azerbaijan? Yes. Until 2016, my family and I went to...
