Hadrian's wall was built in 120 A.D. when the Roman emperor, Hadrian, visted his troops in Britian. During his visit, Hadrian was impressed of the natural fortifications that the troops where emcamped apon. Wanting to build upon the natural strengths, he ordered a 135 kilometer wall to be built to protect the Roman colony from the rebelious Britons. It helped protect the city of London and the rest of the Roman settlements from raiders up utill the soldiers guarding the wall themselves rebelled.
