Chaska, Minnesota is significant to the 1931 film adaptation of Frankenstein because Edward Van Sloan grew up there when he was little and was celebrated for being a successful hometown actor. He played Dr. Waldman, Frankenstein's professor who tried to warn him that creating the monster was a bad idea. I found this information in a MinnPost news article that combines historical research, old reports, and an interview with one of Edward Van Sloans relatives. This source is an example of a single authorship because one journalist organized the research and family stories into one article, even tho there was several records and perspectives in it. Mapping on COVE lets future students build on what I found by making Van Sloan's Minnesota connection more visible showing how this specific place shows the history of Frankenstein.
