While it is well known that Emily Dickinson had a morbid attachment to death and often wrote on the subject, her last poem, "So Give Me Back to Death" was perhaps the most appropriately titled and themed as it was written on her literal death bed. From the ages of 10 to 25, Emily Dickinson lived in her family's home on Pleasant Street in Amherst, Massachesetts, to which a cemetery resided next door. During this time, Emily would have seen multiple friends and family members buried within its gates, so it is only fair that she developed an obsession with death and seemed to welcome it rather than fear it. While the name Emily Dickinson has become synonymous with poetry, specifically morbid poetry, during her lifetime, her name was more likely to be synonymous with gardening.
