At only the age of 25, following the death of her father, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth as the monarch, rightfully ascends to her throne. She was in Kenya at the time and was required to ascend the throne from abroad, but was coronated a year later at Westminister Abbey which was televised holding nearly 27 million viewers' attention. Since then, she has become the longest standing monarch in British history, holding her position now for 69 years this month.
