Sheldonian Theatre

 Call Number: 822.33S527. Location: Armstrong Browning Library Stokes Oversize Collection

The publication information for The Works of Shakespear lists the publisher as Oxford University Press. Unfortunately, the location information is less clear, being labelled somewhat mysteriously as "The Theatre." Upon further research, I discovered that Oxford University Press published out of Wren's Sheldonian Theater in 1669. While this might seem to resolve this question of origin, Oxford University Press stopped publishing out the Sheldonian in 1713, ten years before the first edition of these volumes were published. Alas! The mystery persists...
