One image demonstrates the fight for Title IX and what it stands for. In the 1970’s women were fighting to become equal compared to men and have the same opportunities. In the other image, it shows the outcome of Title IX and how classrooms were now filled with women. Since 1972 when Title IX was passed, women have made great achievements academically and athletically. To this day, 38.3 % of women have a bachelor’s degree or higher which is higher than the 36.7% of men that have a bachelor’s degree or higher. There has been a major increase in women pursuing higher education and pursuing STEM degrees. Now women make up a large majority of the job force and within athletics. Before Title IX existed few opportunities for women were available. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) offered nothing for woman regarding scholarships and competing in championship games. Title IX brought a cause to these problems and established a level playing field. If something was offered to men, it had to be offered to women too. Title IX has given women equal opportunities in education, sports, and government funding. The passing of the law not only changed society for women, but for everyone that was discriminated against. Title IX has altered the minds of individuals in America and created a greater change of equality.
