Wednesday Addams ( Wednesday Series)

Type: Gallery Image | Not Vetted

, ,

In Wednesday (2022), it is the spinoff show to The Addams Family trilogy. The main character is Wednesday who is sent to a boarding school where she is on the hunt to solve the mystery of who killed a specific student on her campus, Rowan. While the tv show is often emphasized to be inaccurate to the character besto known in the films, The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993), I believe that her character is much more Gothic accurate than the films. In the series, there is a much more closer lens on the character herself. She is seen to be a morally gray character which is often depicted in female characters in Gothic fiction. However, she is the archetype who isn't afraid to speak her mind which is something that the other supporting characters often find to be unsettling. The series has multiple themes of doubleness, boundaries and limits, and even family structures between social norms and gender roles.
