This photo shows the founders of USPU, Annie Kenney and Christabel Pankhurst, holding up a sign to advocate for the Women's Suffrage Movement during the Victorian era. It shows the push for equality that people during this time had when they were being denied their basic rights, being able to vote, and have a say in politics and other decision making roles. The sign shows the resistance and activism that went on during this time because of the fact that there were a lot of women, and male supporters, trying to protest for there to be a change in the unfair laws as well as changing the traditional gender roles.
This image relates to the Goblin Market because both the image and the poem show women trying to push against the limits and restrictions that were placed on them, trying to get more freedom and control over their own lives.
