This course introduces graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars in the humanities—especially those working in literary studies, visual culture, and art history—to the foundational tools and critical frameworks of digital scholarship. As part of the wider DHSI ecosystem of digitally engaged teaching and research, it offers an accessible, project-based entry into the digital humanities, with no prior technical experience required. Participants will explore open-access tools on the scholar-led platform COVE (Collaborative Organization for Virtual Education) to build digital projects such as annotated editions, timelines, maps, and curated image galleries. Emphasizing hands-on learning, the course covers TEI text encoding, HTML-based publishing, and IIIF image handling, while also fostering critical engagement with digital methods and values. Ideal for those interested in multimodal research, public humanities, and interdisciplinary teaching, the course blends theoretical inquiry with practical skill-building to support individual scholarly goals.
