Khorasan

Khorasan is a historical region northeast of Greater Iran, which includes part of Central Asia and Afghanistan. Khorasan has great cultural importance in the area: it was the site of the development of the New Persian language and remained the cultural capital of Persia until the Mongol invasion of the thirteenth century.
