Amy Gates
Amy Gates is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Philosophy at Missouri Southern State University. She specializes in British literature of the long eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with a focus on British Romanticism. Her research interests include literary depictions of the dead and their disposal as being future- and progress-oriented in British Romantic literature; emerging concepts of “vocation” and career guidance as a means for social mobility and gender parity during the long nineteenth century; and British women’s writing. Her work has been published in Women’s Writing and the Keats-Shelley Journal. At MSSU, she teaches courses in British literature, literary theory, writing and research in English, global arts and cultures, world literature, medicine and literature, and composition.
