Christabel
In 1797 Coleridge made a significant contribution to Gothic literature by creating Christabel. Christabel was written contributing to the Gothic genre. Such as having, dark scenery, damsles in distress, and a hint of the supernatural that being the woman found in the forest. Although Colridge could be considered a Romantic writer, Christabel would be a Gothic piece hidden behind a Romantic mask. There are many ways one can differentiate this piece being a Gothic poem and one thing that made it apparent would be the ominious tone that Colridge had set for the poem. As well as adding the supernatural element.
