African Grey Parrot

Type: Gallery Image | Not Vetted

"One day the children discovered, to their great joy, that the old chowkidar belonging to the bungalo possessed an African gret parrot - a rare bird indeed in India" (Croker, "To Let", Annotated Version https://editions.covecollective.org/edition/haunting-imperial-nonsense-what-cannot-be-captured-victorian-ghost-story)

This bird, which my group and I have collectively named Edgar Allen Crow (even though he is not a crow), holds a very important role in the story as it gives an example of colonizing land and bringing non-native things to a new land. The parrot signifies wealth and status by owning things such as Edgar Allen Crow.
